SCRA USSF Grades and Assessments (Nov 2019)

USSF GRADES

USSF changed the titles for the various grades for referees within the US in 2019, and Cal South elected to make that change starting in 2020.  As SCRA referees certify or recertify for 2020 and beyond, the following grade titles will be used.

    - Grassroots Referee                (previous grades 7, 8, and 9)

    - Regional Referee                   (previous grades 5 and 6)

    - Regional Emeritus Referee    (previous grades 15 and 16)

    - National Referee                    (previous grades 3 and 4)

    - National Emeritus Referee     (previous grades 13 and 14)

Each referee is responsible for meeting all the prerequisites for maintaining his current grade, to include training, completing the exam, paying the registration fee, and game counts as applicable.  The requirements for each grade are listed on the Cal South website.

For those referees that wish to advance up the ladder and increase their USSF grade, they will move from Grassroots Referee to Regional Referee. That is the one big step in advancement.  It's also a very significant step.  It is only achieved with some serious experience in terms of game counts and levels, assessments, training, and fitness tests.  Each referee is responsible for meeting all the necessary requirements for this upgrade.   The requirements for advancing to Regional Referee are found on the Cal South website.

Similarly, the requirements for becoming a Regional Emeritus Referee or National Emeritus Referee can be found on the Cal South website.

ASSESSMENTS

A referee needing an assessment for either upgrade or maintenance must first be assigned an appropriate level game.  Contact the SCRA assignors to request that appropriate level game.  Make sure you know what the appropriate level game is per the information on the Cal South website.

Once you have the assignment for an assessable game, then request an assessment from Cal South.  That procedure is on the Cal South website.
