Mentorship Announcement

The SCRA is in a tremendous growth period.  Our membership numbers have increased significantly, and the number of contracts through which the association provides your games has increased as well.  The reason for our growth is two-fold; our Board members are continuously seeking and obtaining new contracts for games and the referees that we have provided for our games have been recognized as experienced competent referees while in conjunction, SCRA’s reputation continues to impress clubs which engage our services.

The SCRA recognizes that the quality of the referees in the organization is critical to the success of the organization; without high-quality referees, the organization will not be contracted for games.  And it is only through having more qualified referees that the association will be able to get better, higher level, and more challenging games for its members.

The SCRA Board continues to be committed to building the skills and qualities of those referees who want to become better referees as a top priority within the organization. The Board is committed to providing any member who wants to become a better referee the tools and assistance to do so.  Therefore, the Board is currently putting together a mentoring program that will be open to anyone who would like to improve their skills.

In the past, SCRA has tried to initiate several mentorship programs which, unfortunately, have had limited success.  We are currently working to put together a new program for referees who are motivated to improve their skills whether it is for badge up-grades, to be able to do higher level games, or just for self- satisfaction.  The program is open to both YOUTHS and ADULTS.  Those that would like to be mentored will work games with their mentors who will in turn provide helpful and meaningful feedback during their matches.  Since our resources are limited, we want to dedicate those resources to individuals who are committed and motivated to improve.

Please contact our Director of Development, Mark Rogers, if you would like to be involved with a mentor and become a better referee, or if you would like to be considered as a mentor.

Sincerely,

Marcel Caruana
